A unique collaborative environment
Established in 2003 by the MOD, Niteworks is a MOD-industry partnership which is governed and funded by the MOD. We work across the MOD-Industry space to analyse problems, examine options and de-risk requirements, helping the MOD to make better, faster and more informed, decisions.
Impartiality, scalability and agility are crucial components – we are constituted and operate in a way that enables the MOD to access a range of expertise without individual company bias. Our partnership breadth enables us to verify and accelerate the insertion of new solutions across the DLoDs (Defence Lines of Development). We take an informed practical, coherent view and we can examine integration challenges early in the cycle. We provide trusted evidence to inform the scrutiny process and meet the needs of operational tempo. Using the breadth of our MOD and Industry reach we carry out a range of experimentation that is free from stovepiped interests. Our MOD-approved flexible, and proven, contracting mechanism makes the right collaboration - with the right expertise - easy.
What we do:
y Operations support – we apply knowledge, methods and expertise to understanding the risks and impacts of operational options. Niteworks helps inform choices and decisions that improve the capability of warfighting and peacekeeping interventions.
y Capability Planning – we help inform the choices available, in the context of current capability need. Niteworks informs decisions by demonstrating the impact and outcomes of different options.
y Capability Delivery – we evidence the cross-DLoD trades in a Through Life Capability Management (TLCM) context and inform MOD Programme Board options. Niteworks enables decision makers in acquisition and delivery to reduce risk before commitment, and enhance value for money.
We do this through:
y QuickLook: A rapid review taking a pragmatic and operational perspective. Ideal as an impartial wider view of the viability of a solution at minimal cost. Early option identification and elimination – generally followed by more in-depth investigation.
y Full investigation: A scalable project providing a range of decision support, fully costed, applying up to date evidenced expertise in an operational context.
y The way we work: We draw on our partners to establish an appropriate team of ‘best athletes’ across MOD and Industry. Our teams are able to assess the operational context, evaluate cross-DLoD options, and apply relevant industrial and operational experience. We deliver a range of experimentation with a strong pragmatic approach.
y Embracing the DLoDs: We evaluate how to meet a capability in the most affordable way, through life, underpinned by industrial technology reach and an understanding of the art of the possible.
